Eve Goodman

Eve Goodman is a young woman who transmutes the personal into the universal. After her degree in Literature, Eve left Cardiff to live in a cabin on a Cornish farm, where she wrote and recorded her first EP, Low Sun.

Eve has now returned to the mountains of North Wales. Her current writing explores the territory of grief, and rising up after losing her father. Against her loss, Eve offers the quiet harmony of a voice who is finding joy again. If you sit, listen and wait, this beautifully crafted new folk light, will unveil earth, soul and a deep connection to what it is to be human in these troubled, inspiring times.

2018 saw the release of her second EP, Straeon I Ganeuon, a bilingual collection of songs written during her artist residency in the CARNafan (a ‘creative caravan’ space) in Caernarfon. The songs draw from the stories of the locals, breathing new light into old tales, echoing the ancient folk tradition of storytelling.
In 2019 Eve was chosen by the BBC as one of twelve Horizons/Gorwelion artists from Wales.

This winter Eve is writing her first album and will record her third EP: a collection of songs inspired by women and the sea. She is also working on collaborations with fellow Horizons artist, SERA.

“Eve Goodman possesses a rare magic”- From The Margins

——

Mae Eve Goodman yn ysgrifennu o’r galon; dyma ferch ifanc sydd yn cyfuno’r personol a’r byd mawr. Ar ôl ei gradd mewn llenyddiaeth, gadawodd Eve y ddinas i fyw mewn cwt ar fferm yng Nghernyw, ble ysgrifennodd ei EP cyntaf, Low Sun. Yn ei chyfansoddiadau diweddaraf, mae Eve yn edrych ar thema galaru ac yn dygymod ag ail-godi oddi ar anialdir profedigaeth wedi colli ei thad. Yn erbyn y poen, mae Eve yn cynnig harmoni distaw llais sydd yn ail ddarganfod llawenydd. Os yn eistedd, gwrando ac yn aros, bydd goleuni newydd yn datgelu enaid, tir a chysylltiad agos i ystyr ddynoliaeth yn y byd trafferthus, ysbrydoledig sydd ohoni.

The Cynefin project is the creative vision of Clettwr Valley native Owen Shiers. Fascinated by music and history, it is a bid to give a voice to his corner of Wales and innovate within wider Welsh culture. Starting out from his home village of Capel Dewi and traveling through the musical landscape of Ceredigion, Owen has unearthed seasoned songs and stories, some never before recorded, and given them new life in the present. Nominated for ‘Best Solo Artist’ at the inaugural 2019 Welsh Folk Awards, Cynefin and the project’s debut album ‘Dilyn Afon’ gives Owen a platform to ply his fine arranging and guitar skills whilst taking him right back to his roots.

“Quite extraordinary” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
“Epic work” – Living Tradition

Gweledigaeth greadigol Owen Shiers, brodor o Ddyffryn Cletwr yw prosiect Cynefin. Wedi ei gyfareddu gyda cherddoriaeth a hanes, dyma’i ymgais i roi llais i’w gornel ef o Gymru ac i fod ar flaen y gad o ran y diwylliant Cymreig ehangach. Gan ddechrau yn ei bentref genedigol Capel Dewi a theithio drwy dirwedd gerddorol Ceredigion, mae Owen wedi datguddio hen ganeuon a straeon, rhai heb eu recordio erioed o’r blaen, ac mae wedi rhoi bywyd newydd iddyn nhw yn y presennol. Cafodd ei enwebu ar gyfer yr ‘Artist Unigol Gorau’ yn seremoni gyntaf Gwobrau Gwerin Cymru 2019, mae Cynefin ac albwm cyntaf y prosiect ‘Dilyn Afon’ yn rhoi llwyfan i Owen i arddangos ei sgiliau gosod a’i chwarae ardderchog yn ogystal â mynd ag ef yn ôl i’w wreiddiau.
