Award winning pianist’s World Jazz Night returns to Blue Sky with special guests Steve Berry and Maria Lamburn.
Steve Berry is composer, arranger, songwriter, jazz bassist and session musician, Steve came to prominence in the mid-1980s as a founder member of the 21-piece jazz orchestra Loose Tubes, with which he toured and recorded internationally.
Since then, he has collaborated with numerous ensembles, including those led by Mike Westbrook (in particular his Rossini and William Blake projects) and Robert Ziegler’s Matrix Ensemble (with Ute Lemper), and continues to work alongside many of Europe’s finest jazz players Steve is head of Jazz and Improvisation at RNCM in Manchester.
Maria Lamburn is a composer and multi instrumentalist  playing bass clarinet for this performance. Winner of the Cornelius Cardew Composition prize and the ACW Creative Wales award, Maria has a long history of playing in a wide variety of genres and has performed and recorded with Camberwell Now, Regular Music, June Tabor, Huw Warren, John Stevens and Mervyn Africa amongst others.
